Coonoor: A new record was made at the auctions of the Coonoor Tea Trade Association last week when the RD grade of Homedale Tea Factory, sold by Global Tea Brokers, fetched Rs 112 a kg. Among other teas from purchased-leaf factories, Darmona Estate got Rs 91 a kg, Greenview Estate and Selva Ganapathy Estate Rs 85, Shanthi Supreme Rs 84, Hittakkal Estate Rs 83, Deepika Supreme Rs 82, Kannavarai Estate and Professor Rs 81 and Vigneshwar Estate Rs 80. Among orthodox teas from the corporate sector, Havukal got Rs 121 a kg, followed by Chamraj at Rs 120, Curzon Rs 104, Prammas Rs 103, Glendale Rs 101, and Kodanaad, Tiger Hill and Kairbetta Rs 100. On the export front, Pakistan bought cleaner, blacker, smaller brokens and fannings, paying up to Rs 56 a kg.
