Spot Rubber Prices Gain

Kottayam: The domestic rubber prices ended on an optimistic note on Saturday. In the physical front, covering groups kept the market slightly higher at the weekend session though major manufacturers were hesitant to join the buyers’ queue. RSS 4 improved by 50 paise to Rs 104.50 a kg at Kottayam while it closed unchanged at the same level in Kochi.

Futures firm

In futures, the March contract for RSS 4 finished firm at Rs 104.38 (103.98), April at Rs 107.60 (106.97), May at Rs 109.60 (108.85) and June at Rs 110.99 (110.46) per kg on NMCE. The open interest was 6,987 (6,973) tonnes with 3,152 (3,229) tonnes in March, 2,445 (2,359) tonnes in April, 851 (841) tonnes in May and 539 (544)tonnes in June. The volumes totalled 894 (1,512) tonnes.

Spot prices were (Rs/kg): RSS-4: 104.50 (104); RSS-5: 102 (102); ungraded: 100.50 (100); ISNR 20: 101.50 (101) and latex 60 per cent: 73 (73).
