Prices Steady At Kochi Tea Auctions

Kochi: Good general demand steadied prices at the Kochi Tea Auction where popular CTC dust varieties reigned at last week’s levels, while medium and plain CTC quoted higher.

High grown orthodox dust was steady to dearer, while medium and secondary orthodox grades remained steady. CTC varieties witnessed good demand from all buyers.

Best CTC varieties fetched Rs 67-79, medium CTC was at Rs 56-65 and below medium quoted Rs 43-49. High grown BOPD quoted Rs 110-122, medium BOPD fetched Rs 45-47 and secondaries were at Rs 40-42.

High grown orthodox leaf grades were dearer by Rs 1-2, superior high grown varieties quoted higher and medium orthodox remained steady. CTC varieties were steady to irregularly higher. There was 3,34,219 kg of leaf tea at the auction. While exporters were selective on medium orthodox grades, they generated good demand for high grown orthodox varieties. CTC witnessed good demand from internal buyers. Best Nilgiri varieties fetched Rs 80-100, medium orthodox quoted Rs 52-65 and plain orthodox was at Rs 40-45. Best CTC leaf quoted Rs 54-64 and medium CTC was at Rs 51-54.

Top Prices

In the dust segment, Kodanad BOPD fetched the top price of Rs 122, followed by Parkside BOPDS at Rs 110, Pasuparai FD at Rs 89.
