Farmers Expects Higher Prices On Bengal Gram, Cumbu

Coimbatore: Farmers planning to increase Bengal gram, cumbu and coriander during October-November season in Tamil Nadu have been cautioned on moderate price forecasts for these crops during their harvest in February-March next. The Tamilnadu Agricultural University's domestic and export market intelligence cell (DEMIC) said farmers who prefer to sow Bengal gram using the Oct-Nov wet spell should expect a lower price of Rs 2,700-Rs 2800 per quintal as against the current market rates of Rs 2,900.The price of the crop during January-March harvest season may rule marginally lower at Rs 600-Rs 650 per quintal as compared to the current market price of Rs 700. In the case of coriander, the anticipated price of the crop during its harvest in January-March would be below the current market price of Rs 700 per quintal and it is anticipated to quote at Rs 650-Rs 750 per quintal during April-May
