CTC Tea Sees Good Demand At N. Indian Auctions

Kolkata: Last week, the CTC teas at the North Indian auction centres of Kolkata, Siliguri and Guwahati saw good demand at firm to occasionally dearer levels, following continued strong purchasing from domestic segments and packeteers. Orthodox varieties had a firm market with fannings often appreciating in value. CIS countries and West Asia continued to be the mainstay with the major blenders and local dealers operating on fannings. In Colombo, Sri Lankan teas continued to meet with strong demand and levels appreciated, with good inquiry from CIS countries, Far East, Japan and West Asia. Kenyan teas at Mombasa met with good general demand at irregular rates.
