Kottayam: The domestic rubber prices improved on Thursday. Supply concerns kept the market bullish as covering groups turned extremely aggressive to procure the sparse arrivals. Sheet rubber flared up to Rs 105.50 and Rs 106 a kg respectively at Kottayam and Kochi from Rs 104 a kg amidst low volumes. RSS 3 firmed up at its May futures to ¥282.6 (Rs 109.98) from ¥277.7 a kg at TOCOM. The grade’s spot shed 2 paise to close at Rs 112.02 a kg at Bangkok.
April futures move up
On NMCE, the April futures moved up further to Rs 105 (104.49), May to Rs 106.99 (106.52), June to Rs 107.90 (107.53) and July to Rs 107.85 (107.57) per kg for RSS 4. The volumes totalled 1,359 (969) tonnes. The open interest stood at 4,607 (4,519) tonnes with 1,863 (1,900) tonnes in April, 1,780 (1,688) tonnes in May, 712 (691) tonnes in June and 252 (240) tonnes in July.
Spot prices were (Rs/kg): RSS-4: 105.50 (104); RSS-5: 102.50 (101.50); ungraded: 101.50 (100); ISNR 20: 102 (100.50) and latex 60 per cent: 71 (70).
