In grains trading, wheat futures tumbled Friday on profit-taking ahead of the weekend and bearish expectations for an influx of supplies from the upcoming new-crop harvest.
Chicago Board of Trade May wheat closed 26 1/2 cents lower at $8.96 1/2 a bushel. Kansas City Board of Trade May wheat dropped 21 cents to $9.53 3/4, and Minneapolis Grain Exchange May wheat sank 33 cents to $12.92.
Soybean and corn futures also slid ahead of the weekend.
May soybeans settled 23 1/2 cents lower at $13.32 1/2 a bushel on the CBOT, July soybeans finished 23 1/2 cents lower at $13.49 1/4, and November soybeans ended 8 1/2 cents lower at $12.62 1/2. May soymeal settled $7.70 lower at $344.50 per short ton. May soyoil finished 0.23 cent lower at 59.94 cents per pound.
Meanwhile, CBOT May corn fell 10 cents to settle at $5.84 1/4 a bushel, July corn also lost 10 cents to finish at $5.97 1/2, and December corn finished 7 1/4 cents weaker at $6.04 a bushel.
