Overall Earnings
Prices averaged Rs 44.19 a kg compared with Rs 47.77 in 2006. This resulted in higher volume of 37.73 million kg from 37.39 million kg. Consequently, the overall earnings fell to Rs 166.6 crore from Rs 178.66 crore, marking a decline of 6.75 per cent.
Average prices dropped despite an increase in respect of orthodox teas because CTC teas lost heavily. Each kilogram of CTC tea fetched Rs 4 lower to average Rs 43.26. Because of the drop, the volume sold rose marginally to 34.80 million kg from 34.66 million kg.
