Spot Rubber Stays Steady

Kottayam: Spot rubber continued to rule steady on Thursday. The market activities were dull lacking active traders both in the sellers and buyers side. RSS 4 closed flat at Rs 94 a kg at Kottayam but the grade was quoted marginally higher by 25 paise at Rs 94.25 a kg at Kochi.

Futures recover

The March futures for RSS 3 recovered partially to ¥279.5 (Rs 103.81) from ¥276.6 a kg at TOCOM. The grade weakened to Rs 106.21 a kg from Rs 106.51 a kg at Bangkok.

The March futures for RSS 4 was unchanged at Rs 96.25 (96.25) a kg on MCX. The February contract for the grade was quoted at Rs 94.06 (94.31), March at Rs 96.45 (96.33), April at Rs 99.30 (99.19) and May at Rs 100.90 (100.61) per kg on NMCE.

The volumes totalled 746 (1,067) tonnes trading 186 (344) tonnes in February, 321 (403) tonnes in March, 169 (221) tonnes in April and 70 (99) tonnes in May. The outstanding positions were 3,046 (3,107) tonnes in February, 3,694 (3,616) tonnes in March, 1,089 (1,030) tonnes in April and 422 (396) tonnes in May. The open interest was 8,251 (8,149) tonnes.

Spot prices were (Rs/kg): RSS-4: 94 (94); RSS-5: 91.50 (91.50); ungraded: 90 (90); ISNR 20: 91 (91) and latex 60 per cent: 58.50 (58.50).
