Spot Rubber Prices Unchanged

Kottayam: Physical rubber prices closed almost unchanged on Friday.

Most of the manufacturers were keeping their quotes below Rs 94 a kg, while the growers appeared confident to stay back expecting the prices to remain firm in the succeeding months.

Sheet rubber, the only gainer, finished marginally higher by 25 paise at Rs 94.25 a kg at Kottayam, while the grade continued to rule steady at the same level in Kochi.

Futures rise

The wide gap between the domestic and international rates had a positive impact on the producing community triggering export hopes. RSS 3 (spot) improved by 59 paise to Rs 106.80 a kg at Bangkok. The March futures rose sharply to ¥287.4 (Rs 106.09) from ¥279.5 a kg at TOCOM, attracting buyers in the wake of gains in oil and gold futures.
