Spot Rubber Prices Improve

Kottayam: Spot rubber improved on Thursday. According to observers, certain traders exploited the opportunity to lift the prices as there were no quantity sellers in the market. RSS 4 moved up to Rs 96 a kg from Rs 95 a kg both at Kottayam and Kochi. The market made all-round gains though the transactions were in a low key.

The March futures for RSS 3 closed at 296.2 yen (Rs 108.35) against 293.4 yen a kg at TOCOM. Its spot gained by 54 paise to Rs 109.88 a kg at Bangkok.

Futures firm


The rubber futures showed a firm trend quoting the March contract at Rs 97.59 (97.07) a kg on MCX. On NMCE, the February contract rose to Rs 96 (94.98), March to Rs 97.95 (97.19), April to Rs 101 (100.22) and May to Rs 102.99 (102.29) per kg for RSS 4. The open interest was 7,070 (6,902) tonnes. The volumes totalled 786 (755) tonnes. Spot prices were (Rs/kg): RSS-4: 96 (95); RSS-5: 94 (93.50); ungraded: 92 (91); ISNR 20: 93 (92.50) and latex 60 per cent: 60 (59).
