Kottayam: The physical rubber prices made yet another landmark on Monday. RSS 4 hit the Rs 100-mark once again at Kottayam as covering groups turned extremely aggressive on the grade, while it closed firm at Rs 99.50 against Rs 98 a kg at Kochi. Run-up to Budget 2008-09
According to observers, the market rose sharply amidst low volumes as there was no selling pressure even at the prevailing levels. Major manufacturers were buyers only up to Rs 98.75 a kg for sheet rubber. RSS 3 (spot) firmed up by 76 paise to Rs 110.73 (109.97) a kg at Bangkok.
Futures gain
The March futures for RSS 4 improved to Rs 100.75 (99.82) a kg on MCX. The March futures finished higher at Rs. 100.60 (99.74), April at Rs 103.90 (102.88), May at Rs 105.99 (104.97) and June at Rs 107.81 (107.01) per kg on NMCE. Spot prices were (Rs/kg): RSS-4: 100 (98); RSS-5: 98 (96); ungraded: 96.50 (94); ISNR 20: 97 (94.50) and latex 60 per cent: 66 (63).
