Kottayam: Rubber exports have increased in the last two months with the international prices ruling higher than the domestic prices, according to a Rubber Board release. During the current fiscal, 31,943 tonnes were exported till February 6. Of this, around 11,000 tonnes had been exported during the past two months. Imports have been pegged at 79,318 tonnes.
Last year, imports and exports were 89,699 tonnes and 56,545 tonnes respectively. The Board expects the exports this fiscal would be almost the same as last year. Most of the exporters are of the view that the exports would increase in the coming weeks. The Rubber Board chairman is convening a meeting of all the exporters on February 20 to consider various measurers to take advantage of the current situation.
