1 MT Synthetic Rubber Consumption By 2020

KOLKATA: Consumption of synthetic rubber in India is estimated to rise to 1 million tonnes by 2020. During the same period, the total demand for rubber in the global market is projected to touch 30 million tonnes, in which synthetic rubber will have 67% share.

The tyre industry has projected the growth pattern for rubber consumption after visualising tremendous growth in vehicle population.

The industry foresees global passenger car and commercial vehicle tyre production to grow by 3.2% and 4.1%, respectively, over the period.

This will push up total rubber consumption by the automobile industry alone by 3%. Out of this, demand for synthetic rubber expected to grow by 3.2% and natural rubber by 2.5%.
