COIMBATORE: Tea prices continued to quote lower by Re one to Rs three per kg in the Coimbatore auction held last week, industry sources said today.
With limited internal demand and CIS countries operating with fair strength, a few clean well made Nilgiri larger and whole orthodox leaf grades were firm to occasionally dearer, while other grades ruled lower by Rs one to Rs three. CTC leaf grades were also irregular and lower by Re one, they said.
Small quality of orthodox dusts were sold at barely steady level, while selected high priced CTC dust, though remained steady, others were irregular and lower by Rs one per kg.
Orthodox high grown broken quoted at Rs 58 to Rs 77, good CTC brokens Rs 43 to Rs 50, fannings Rs 44 to Rs 49, medium brokens Rs 36 to Rs 40 and fannings at Rs 36 to Rs 40, per kg.
Best CTC dust quoted Rs 54 to Rs 65, good Rs 45 to Rs 53, medium CTC dust Rs 36 to Rs 42 and Rs 37 to Rs 43, while medium orthodox dust quoted Rs 30 to Rs 42 per kg.
Of the total offerings of 5.12 lakh kgs, dust teas comprised 3.58 lakh kgs, the sources added.
