Kochi: Good general demand was evident at the Kochi tea Auction which had 10,45,000 kg of dust tea on offer. Liquoring CTC grades were barely steady while other CTC varieties eased by Re 1-Rs 2. Orthodox high grown varieties were dearer. Prices of medium and secondaries remained steady.
Good CTC varieties were absorbed by major blenders. Exporters were less active and loose tea trade provided fair amount of support.
Best CTC varieties fetched Rs 63-72, medium CTC quoted Rs 50-57 and below medium was at Rs 30-35. High grown BOPD ranged at Rs 90-108, medium BOPD was at Rs 40-45 and secondaries realised Rs 30-35.
Leaf Sale
There was 2.87 lakh kg of leaf tea at the auction. High grown orthodox varieties were steady to dearer, medium orthodox was steady and medium fannings were dearer. While price of good liquoring CTC turned dearer, other CTC varieties eased. Orthodox varieties witnessed good support from exporters to CIS countries. There was fair export enquiry on plainer CTC.
